The Future of the Latinx Consumer

The Latinx community’s buying power is surging in the U.S. We represent nearly 20% of the population, yet we are severely underrepresented in the alcohol industry. Consumers of all backgrounds crave Latin culture, but the industry is not developing enough brands, products, or experiences that authentically represent us. The supply is not meeting the demand. By 2025, Latinx spending power in the U.S. will top $2.3 trillion — higher than the GDP of Spain or Mexico. This session will introduce industry professionals to the diversity within our community and jumpstart the conversation on how to reach us, both online and IRL.

In this session a group of sustainability-minded hospitality professionals will discuss the unique opportunity that bars and restaurants have to address the two integrated issues of food-waste and hunger. While restaurants aren't the only culprits of food- waste in our society, they do make up nearly 40% of the surplus food that ends up in landfills every year. In this panel discussion we will examine how restaurants and bars can implement food donation into their operations to not only help reduce food otherwise headed to landfills, but also help reduce food insecurity in their local communities. Our panel will also discus other methods of waste-reduction that can be useful to the bar/restaurant community.
